Research and Learning

Students
Students are invited to access the Collection online, through class visits, volunteer opportunities, internships, and practicums. They are also encouraged to use the Collection for case studies in courses such as design, history, business, marketing, material culture and museum studies.

Faculty
Faculty members in all disciplines are invited to use the Collection as a resource within courses. Contact the Collections Manager to discuss possible uses and book class tours.

Researchers
Researchers are invited to access clothing and textile materials through the Collection Web site or by appointment. Contact the Collections Manager by mail, email, or telephone for information requests about the Collection.

Interns
The Collection staff periodically accepts interns from the University of Alberta and from other educational institutions. Although priority is given to University of Alberta students, all interested parties should contact the Collections Manager to discuss internship possibilities.

Community Members

Community members are invited to access the Collection through our Web site, tours (available by appointment), volunteer opportunities and changing exhibitions. Information on tours to the public is listed below. Please contact the Collections Manager by mail, email or telephone to schedule tours.

 

Collections Visitation and Use

Public tours:

Tours are offered to the public every last Thursday of the month from 10:00 a.m. till 3:00 p.m.
Tours are available at 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. 
Two weeks’ notice is required for booking a tour.
Maximum 8 person/tour.

 

Use by the Faculty and staff:

For more efficient use of the Collection’s resources, all faculty and staff will be asked to make their requests for tours and other educational/research activities in the Collection in  the beginning of each term.
